What Is the Shoprite YES Programme?
The Youth Employment Service (YES) is a national initiative driven by business, government, and labour to create employment pathways for South African youth. Through this programme, Shoprite offers 12 months of full-time, paid on-the-job training in various areas of retail.
As one of South Africa’s largest retail employers, Shoprite ensures that YES programme participants receive practical, real-world experience, improving their chances of securing long-term employment or even starting their own businesses in the retail sector.

Who Can Apply for the Shoprite YES Programme?
To be eligible for the Shoprite YES Programme 2025, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Age Requirement:
- South African youth between the ages of 18 and 34 years old
- Minimum Educational Requirements:
- A Grade 10 certificate or equivalent qualification
- A matric certificate is advantageous and may improve your chances
- OR possession of a Retail Readiness Programme (RRP) qualification
Additional Requirements:
- Must not be working at the time of the application
- Must not have previously participated in a YES programme
- Must be willing to commit to 12 months of continuous learning and development
- Must have a South African ID document or smart ID card
