About the Dispensary Support Learnership Programme
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking motivated individuals to join their Dispensary Support Learnership 2025. The primary goal of this learnership is to provide learners with the opportunity to complete the Learner Basic Pharmacist Assistant Course, setting a solid foundation for a career in pharmacy.
Through this structured programme, learners will gain essential knowledge of key areas within the pharmaceutical environment, including medicine dispensing, pharmacy operations, and customer care. The programme promotes on-the-job training while maintaining high standards of quality and compliance.
Key Details:
- Position Type: Fixed-Term Contract (until SAPC registration is complete)
- Location: Various Dis-Chem Pharmacy branches across South Africa
- Duration: Until learner is registered as a Basic Pharmacist Assistant with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC)
Once qualified and registered, learners may be offered permanent employment at Dis-Chem Pharmacies.
2025 Dis Chem Dispensary Support Learnership Responsibilities:
As a Dispensary Support Learner, your duties will include (but are not limited to):
- Assisting with the sale of Schedule 1 medicines or scheduled substances.
- Helping with the compounding and preparation of non-sterile medications under pharmacist supervision.
- Merchandising stock, maintaining cleanliness of dispensary and OTC shelves.
- Learning to accurately interpret prescriptions (scripts) and act within legal pharmaceutical regulations.
- Participating in the packing, labeling, and checking of medications.
- Ensuring all medications are checked and signed off by a registered pharmacist.
- Managing stock control, including expiry checks and shelf organization for Schedule 1 to Schedule 5 medicines.
- Supporting script tracking and follow-ups with patients.
- Assisting with call center scripts and customer service via telephone.
- Providing general health promotion information to customers.
- Assisting with medical aid scheme authorizations for chronic, HIV/AIDS, and oncology treatments.
- Reporting low or out-of-stock items to the Dispensary Manager.
- Receiving dispensary stock according to company SOPs.
2025 Dis Chem Dispensary Support Learnerships Requirements:
To qualify for the Dispensary Support Learnership 2025, you must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Grade 12 / Matric Certificate
- Must include Pure Mathematics
- Plus either Physical Science or Life Sciences
- Minimum of 50% average across key subjects
Essential Skills & Competencies:
- Proficiency in English and a second South African language (read, write, speak)
- Strong time management and ability to work under pressure
