Seriti Community Learnership Programme 2025 – Mining Machinery Operator Training
Are you looking to start a career in the mining industry? The Seriti Community Learnership Programme 2025 offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience and training as a Mining Machinery Operator in an underground coal mining environment. This learnership is designed to provide unemployed youth and community members with the necessary skills, qualifications, and experience to operate a variety of underground (UG) mining machinery used in coal production.
About the Seriti Community Learnerships Programme 2025
The Seriti Community Learnership is an entry-level training initiative targeted at individuals who wish to pursue a career in underground mining operations. As a learner, you will be trained under the direct supervision of qualified miners and experienced machinery operators in an operational coal mine.
Through this programme, learners will receive practical, on-the-job training as well as theoretical knowledge to help them become competent in operating mining equipment safely and effectively in a UG production section.
Key Responsibilities of the Learner
As part of the learnership, learners will be expected to carry out the following duties and responsibilities:
- Operate a range of Underground Mining Machinery in a coal mine production section
- Assist with general housekeeping duties in and around the mining work area
- Perform support tasks as required by the operation to maintain production flow
- Identify basic equipment faults or maintenance needs without supervision
- Attend all scheduled training sessions and interventions related to mining equipment operations
Minimum Requirements
To qualify for the Seriti Mining Learnership 2025, applicants must satisfy the following criteria:
- A minimum education level of Grade 10, including Mathematics, Science, and English
- Actively willing and able to train on various underground mining equipment.
- Strong commitment to safety practices and compliance with safety policies and standards
- Basic literacy and communication skills in English – ability to read, write, and follow instructions
- Physically fit and capable of working in challenging environments
- Must be willing to undergo a practical driving assessment and demonstrate basic driving competence
- Must pass a behavioral assessment to determine suitability for the mining environment
- Ability to work well in a team and perform duties under pressure in a production setting
- Must not have a fear of working at heights or around large industrial machinery
- Must be able to obtain or already have a valid Certificate of Fitness
Additional Advantageous Qualifications
Although not mandatory, the following qualifications and experiences will give applicants an added advantage:
- Prior experience in underground or surface mining operations
- A valid K53 driver’s license
