The South African National Blood Service (SANBS) is inviting applications for its 2026 bursary programme, offering 10 bursaries opportunity to dedicated students pursuing a Bachelor of Health Sciences (BHSc) with Immunohematology as an elective subject.

This bursary aims to support the development of skilled professionals in the field of blood transfusion and medical science, ensuring a strong pipeline of qualified graduates for the future.

Who Can Apply? – Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the SANBS 2026 Bursaries, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Enrolled in a Bachelor of Health Sciences (BHSc) with Immunohematology/Blood Transfusion as one of the elective modules.
  • South African citizen with valid identification.
  • Under 30 years of age at the time of application.
  • Must have achieved a minimum average of 65% in the current academic year.
  • Preference will be given to financially needy students whose total household income does not exceed R600,000 per year.
  • Applicants must not be receiving any other bursary or financial assistance.
