Fields of Study Covered
Partially Funded Qualifications (Capped at R50,000)
Funding for the following study fields is capped at R50,000 per year:
- Biotechnology
- Information Technology (IT)
- Microbiology
- Environmental Studies
- Biochemistry
- Related Science and Technology Fields
Fully Funded Qualifications
The following qualifications are fully covered under the Rand Refinery Bursary:
- Electrical Engineering
- Chemical Engineering
- Industrial Engineering
- Environmental Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Robotics and Advanced Control
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for the Rand Refinery Bursary 2026, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Must be a South African citizen
- Must be between 18 and 25 years old
- Must be enrolled in first, second, or third year of study
- Must be studying at a recognised South African university or university of technology
- Must have obtained a minimum academic average of 70%
