About the GCRA Bursary Programme
The GCRA Bursary Programme 2026 is open to qualifying youth who wish to study in any field of study at a recognised public or private institution of higher learning in South Africa. While applications are open nationally, preference is given to students residing in Gauteng.
The bursary covers the full cost of study, subject to the terms and conditions outlined in the bursary contract.

Who Can Apply for the GCRA Bursary 2026?

Automatic Qualifiers (Application Still Required)
The following students automatically qualify, but must still complete the online application form:
- Top achievers from Gauteng schools
- Top learner from no-fee-paying schools in Gauteng
- Top three learners from LSEN (Learners with Special Education Needs) schools in Gauteng
Minimum Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for a GCRA bursary award, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be a South African citizen
- Be between 18 and 35 years old
- Be accepted or registered at an accredited higher education institution
- Preference will be given to youth residing in Gauteng
