About the Takealot YES Learnership Programme 2025

Takealot, South Africa’s leading e-commerce retailer, is teaming up with the YES initiative to empower youth and boost employment through structured work experience. This programme does not place learners directly at Takealot, but rather with SMMEs (Small, Medium, and Micro Enterprises) that operate as sellers on the Takealot Marketplace platform.

Participants will gain hands-on experience in digital marketing, e-commerce operations, and small business management, helping them develop practical and highly employable skills.

2025 Takealot YES Learnerships programme Overview

  • Duration: 12-month fixed-term contract
  • Location: Primarily in Gauteng, with placements in townships and urban centers
  • Work Structure:
    • 80% focus on digital marketing & Takealot Marketplace activities
    • 20% involvement in general small business operations
  • Stipend: R5,500 per month
  • Support: Ongoing mentoring and support from Takealot’s programme coordinators

What You Will Learn and Do

As part of your daily duties, you will:

  • Deliver professional customer service via phone and email
  • Troubleshoot product or service issues and identify root causes
  • Use digital tools to support customer resolutions and marketplace tasks
  • Collaborate with various departments and small business teams
  • Build strong communication, problem-solving, and digital skills
  • Support the business owner in various aspects of e-commerce operations

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for the Takealot YES Learnership 2025, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

Minimum Requirements

  • Must have a valid Matric certificate
  • Must be fluent in English
  • Must live within 49 km of the assigned job location
  • Must have a clear criminal record

Preferred Criteria

  • South African citizens only
  • Aged between 18 and 25 years old
  • Priority may be given to applicants from historically disadvantaged backgrounds

Note: Applicants may be required to complete a basic digital literacy assessment as part of the screening process.
